Regional leadership for greater health equity: REACH Network publishes its report on WHA Ministerial Roundtable

Following the success of the Ministerial Roundtable, held in Geneva the week of the 78th World Health Assembly, during which ministers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, and Niger, and senior health leaders from Senegal to Indonesia, came together to affirm their joint commitment to the child survival cause, the REACH Network is proud to publish and share with members its report on the meeting.

“What made this gathering so powerful was not the speeches, but the solidarity. Ministers from across Africa and South-East Asia came together, not to present isolated successes, but to align around a collective truth: no child should die from a preventable cause. Not now. Not ever.”

Professor Samba Sow

Co-chair, REACH Network

The REACH Network was specifically conceived to be a platform for countries to lead on their own terms, and support one another through shared learning, data, and policy alignment.

As the REACH Network continues to grow, this roundtable affirmed that real progress is possible when countries work with common cause.

The Ministerial Roundtable highlighted four core themes.

  • Country leadership and ownership
  • Integration as an imperative
  • Collaboration across borders and sectors
  • A shared political commitment.
